Datacenter Infrastructure Specialist

Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of physical datacenter and structured cabling Solutions and designs.

Role

The DIS is:

  • A knowledgeable professional, leveraging knowledge and experience in the field of Datacenter infrastructure solutions (including Power, Cooling, BMS, DC Monitoring, Energy Efficient Data Centers, Structured Cabling and Infrastructure Solutions)
  • A keen subject matter expert on all DC Infrastructure requirements.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Cross functional collaboration with the Sales and other internal teams on presentations, designs and solution architecting for Tiers I to IV Data Centers, Structured Cabling & Fibre Optic Solutions.
  • Lead the development of conceptual designs for data center critical infrastructure for improved reliability, efficiency, flexibility, speed to market, and cost, while aligning with software, hardware, network, and capacity engineering requirements
  • Lead pilot or proof of concept projects to evaluate the benefits and feasibility of the solution to the customer
  • Provide technical due diligence review, evaluation and response to data center RFP/RFQs, proposals, bids and other related matters.
  • Develop strong industry relationships with other data center peers and key OEMs to remain current on industry trends and future directions
  • Travel to data center sites and other facilities for requirements gathering, analysis and collaboration with local teams as required

Qualifications, Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 4+ years of industry experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven leadership experience such as leading large complex projects, leading teams, coordinating with a wide variety and diverse number of stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with structured and fiber optic components, cabling, interconnect products, technologies, and standards.
  • Must have cross-discipline knowledge and conceptual design capabilities for all critical data center infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and control systems. Specific examples include mission critical power distribution, generators, UPS, PDU, Voltage distribution systems, HVAC systems, AHU units (DX, split, RTU, CRAC, etc.), Chilled Water Systems, Condenser Water Systems, Pump controls, Glycol/Glycols, Raised Floor Systems, hot/cold aisle containment, and Building Management Systems
  • Detail-oriented, experience providing solutions to complex problems, and proven experience with effectively managing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders (internal and external) to extract, analyze, and qualify requirements to drive solutions from inception to completion.
  • Proficient in Design, Project Management and Documentation Applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio.
  • Experience with design production software such as AutoCAD.
  • Organization and communication experience with skill at communicating technical details to all organizational levels
  • Familiar with data center design build and cost estimating processes
  • Experience in project management, vendor management and negotiations.
